Thorwesten Air Cushion-System

The patented Thorwesten Vent air-cushioned explosion doors for explosion venting open fast as result of pressure rise. They close by themselves. The opening- and closing leaves them undamaged.

In case of a deflagration the hinged lid opens rapidly only to be stopped by the movable baffle plates. The fast movement creates unconfined air cushions as shown in the illustrations.

The air cushions dampen the transfer of the kinetic energy into the rigid parts of the explosion door. The hinged lid falls back into its normally closed position without damage.

After having vented, Thorwesten Vent air-cushioned explosion doors can be used further.
